Scott is Special Counsel at International Aerospace Law & Policy Group, focusing on public international law, spacecraft insurance and aerospace approvals. Upon obtaining Australia’s first commercial space launch permit and space facility licenses, Scott expanded his expertise into civil aviation and civil governance. He has recently been engaged in projects in Europe and the United States.

While away, Scott has maintained his practice in Australian civil aviation matters. He manages a diverse portfolio of medical certificate, commercial law and criminal law matters. Scott’s aviation medicine portfolio includes assisting fixed and rotary-wing pilots with receiving timely medical certificates from AvMed as well as with appeals to CASA’s legal division and to the Administrative Review Tribunal upon unreasonable conduct from or incorrect decisions made by AvMed. This work involves strategic engagement with CASA and liaising with psychiatrists, DAMEs and independent medical experts.

Scott’s approach generally is to ensure restrictions on recreational and commercial pilots, including businesses, are kept at the minimum level necessary to allow safe and effective aviation activities.
